Munster Economic Review is an independent research organisation based in Cork, dedicated to rigorous, accessible economic analysis of the Munster region and Ireland. Since our founding, we have helped businesses, policymakers, and investors understand the forces shaping the southern economy.
Our Mission
We believe that sound decisions require sound data. Munster businesses have historically had to rely on national or international commentary that often overlooks regional realities. Our mission is to close that gap by producing analysis focused specifically on Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford.
Every report we publish is built on three principles: independence from commercial and political interests, methodological transparency, and clarity of communication. We write for decision-makers, not for academics alone.

Independence
We accept no sponsorship that could influence our findings. Our revenue comes solely from subscriptions and commissioned research, keeping our editorial voice free and our forecasts honest.
Rigour
Our analysts combine official CSO and Eurostat data with proprietary business surveys and interviews with employers across the region. We publish our methodology and review forecast accuracy annually.
Regional Focus
National headlines often mask what is happening in the south. We dig into county-level employment, housing, trade, and consumer trends so our subscribers see the full local picture.
Munster Economic Review in Numbers
Our Story
Munster Economic Review began in 2013 as a small newsletter written by two economists frustrated by the lack of regional data in the aftermath of the financial crisis. What started as a monthly circular to a few dozen Cork businesses has grown into a subscription service trusted by over 2,400 professionals across the province.
Today our team covers everything from labour markets and housing to FDI trends and retail spending, while our custom research arm supports SMEs, multinational subsidiaries, public bodies, and academic partners throughout Munster.
Key Milestones
2013 — Founded in Cork
The Review launches as a monthly newsletter covering post-crisis recovery across the six Munster counties.
2016 — Daily Briefings Introduced
Responding to subscriber demand, we begin publishing a morning economic briefing every weekday.
2019 — Custom Research Division
We expand into commissioned sector research, supporting market entry and investment decisions across the region.
2022 — 2,000 Subscriber Milestone
